Chona’s clients appreciate her caring and patient presence.
Chona loves music and people, and singing in her local church choir brings her a sense of joy and community connection. Chona is deeply passionate about helping her clients connect with community in their own ways, too.
“For various reasons, some of my clients find it challenging to leave the house; so often I’ll help them learn to use public transport like buses and trains to visit the city, go to the cinema, or do some shopping,” Chona says.
“Supporting people to achieve their goals — even if it’s just playing a game of Scrabble or going for a walk around the block — fills my heart with happiness.”
Prior to becoming a Support Worker, Chona spent 16 years as a primary school teacher and seven years in childcare.
Now, with a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) under her belt, Chona is one of RE Support and Coaching’s highly valued team members.
Down the track, Chona’s vision is to return to study to specialise in disability support within the education system.
